Job Description
We seek an experienced software engineer to join our early-stage startup working on backend infrastructure for real-time audio streaming services supporting machine learning models. As an early team member, you will wear multiple hats and have a broad impact beyond this job description. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in systems programming and distributed systems, focusing on high-performance, low-latency architectures, and thrive in a dynamic environment where roles and responsibilities evolve with our rapid growth.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement distributed, scalable server infrastructure for high-throughput, low-latency audio streaming
- Develop and maintain core backend services using C++, Node.js, and Rust
- Optimize system performance and scalability for machine learning model inference
- Deploy and manage services on Google Cloud Platform
- Collaborate with ML engineers to ensure efficient model serving and integration
- Implement monitoring, logging, and observability solutions
- Participate in architectural decisions and technical planning
- Experience designing and implementing APIs using REST, gRPC, or other protocols
Required Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in at least one of: C++, Node.js, or Rust
- 5+ years of experience in backend development
- Demonstrated experience building high-performance distributed systems
- Solid understanding of network programming and protocols
- Experience with real-time data processing and streaming architectures
- Relevant certifications such as Google Professional Cloud Architect
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform services
- Strong experience with PyTorch ecosystem and NVIDIA Triton Inference Server
- Understanding of audio processing and streaming protocols
- Experience with Kubernetes and containerization
- Track record of optimizing system latency and throughput
- Familiarity with observability tools and performance monitoring
- Experience with Python development and its ecosystem
- Experience with Bazel build system and monorepo management
- Site Reliability Engineering experience with focus on monitoring, alerting, deployment automation, and SLO management
- Open source contributions in relevant technologies
